Temp Agencies, Staffing & Placement Companies
Do you work through a staffing agency or temp agency? Are you paid by an agency, but work for another company? Does a placement company schedule interviews and trainings on your behalf?
When companies have positions to fill, they often turn to staffing agencies, which have a database of employees that can quickly go to work to fill a vacancy.
Staffing agencies are frequent violators of employment laws. While working for a staffing agency, you are entitled to:
- Pay for your time interviewing, training for placements, and filling out paperwork.
- Pay for all hours worked, including any overtime at a placement at the rate of time-and-a-half or double-time.
- Coverage or reimbursement for any cost associated with working at the placement, including things like transportation, gas, materials, and so forth.
